    In Florida, The Montreal Canadiens arrived and practiced a day before their scheduled matchup against the Florida Panthers. Gametime will be at 1pm ET, and this will work in Florida’s favor. Why because Montreal is coming off the Christmas break and had to make the long flight to Florida. I expect them to be jet-lagged and slow from the start.

    Montreal is starting goaltender Jakub Dobes and he will be making his NHL debut. Nothing like your first start against the NHL Stanley Cup winners last year. I will be betting against him having a good debut. Congrats and good luck Jakub.

    The Florida Panthers on the other hand, are coming off a 4-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning. On the contrary, the Cats have beaten the Hab’s 8 out of the last 10 meetings. They are at home after a short break and feel good about getting healthier from the break. My money is on the Cats and am expecting them to be able to score at will. Predicting 8 goals in this one with a 6-2 final.

    As far as injuries are concerned Patrik Laine practiced in full on Friday. The Panthers will be without big defenseman Niko Mikkola and this is why I am factoring in 2 goals for the Habs.

    After the Florida Panthers were shutout two games in a row in Canada, they have come back to Florida on fire. They have scored 6 goals in the last two games. I expect them to continue that trend tonight.

    For the Blues, Joel Hofer may get the start, but not confirmed as of yet. Faksa and Broberg are expected to make their return tonight. For the Panthers, Sam Bennett is a GTD and Bobrovsky is starting in net.

    At 6pm ET, Hard Rock Bet has the Panthers as a -325 favorite and the over/under is 5.5.

    I am liking the Florida Panthers to win and I am going with the over.

    According to DailyFaceoff.com, Tkachuk, Verhaeghe and Barkov will be the top line tonight. I have all those guys for at least one point. Also placed Sam Reinhart as a point getter. If I was to pick the goal scorers, it would be Tkachuk, Barkov and Reinhart for the Cats. Only one I feel safe getting a point for the Blues is Kyrou.

    The Edmonton Oilers finally get a rematch against the team that knocked them out of the Stanley Cup playoffs last year.

    Coincidentally the Florida Panthers are on the worst run they have had in awhile. Being a lifelong Panthers fan, I have seen this often. It will take a spectacular game from either Tkachuk, Reinhart or Verhaeghe to get them a win tonight. They have been shutout the last two games. Is this the game that will happen? I don’t think the Edmonton Oilers are worried. Alexander Barkov is a game time decision.

    As of 7pm ET on Hard Rock Bet, the Oilers were -130 favorites. The over/under is 6.

    I am expecting the Oilers to have a big night.

    I picked McDavid, Draisaitl, Bouchard and Hyman to get a point. Threw in a long shot and added Henrique to get a goal. Expect the Oilers shot totals to be high. Maybe even a repeat of game 5 in the Stanley Cup finals.

    A little scared to add a Panther to get a point, but went with Evan Rodriguez and Lundell to get a point. Rodriguez did well in the finals and I expect him to find the back of the net again.

    Safe to say, I believe the NHL Canucks will not be able to stop Florida’s offense. Here is my sports betting choices for points this game:

    • Sam Reinhart
    • Matthew Tkachuk
    • Alexander Barkov
    • Sam Bennett

    Every one of these guys are capable of also getting power play points.

    I just can’t wrap my head around the Canucks being able to score much this game. If I had to choose I would add Conor Garland and Elias Pettersson to maybe have a point.
