    My Upset NHL Prediction For Penguins vs Hurricanes Game 1/5/25

    The Pittsburgh Penguins are heading to Carolina for a tough road match-up. The Penguins nearly snuck out a win from Stanley Cup Champs, The Florida Panthers in their last outing. Losing in overtime by the score of 3-2.

    I do not necessarily like the Penguins, but I did watch their last game and felt they played hard enough to win. The Hurricanes look to be starting Dustin Tokarski in net. The Penguins have also activated Kris Letang.

    For the Hurricanes, it looks like Shane Gostisbehere and Roman Jost will both miss this game. With all the information stated, I am thinking the Penguins will pull an upset in Carolina. Predicting a 7 or 8 goal game and many on the scoring sheet.

    In Florida, The Montreal Canadiens arrived and practiced a day before their scheduled matchup against the Florida Panthers. Gametime will be at 1pm ET, and this will work in Florida’s favor. Why because Montreal is coming off the Christmas break and had to make the long flight to Florida. I expect them to be jet-lagged and slow from the start.

    Montreal is starting goaltender Jakub Dobes and he will be making his NHL debut. Nothing like your first start against the NHL Stanley Cup winners last year. I will be betting against him having a good debut. Congrats and good luck Jakub.

    The Florida Panthers on the other hand, are coming off a 4-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning. On the contrary, the Cats have beaten the Hab’s 8 out of the last 10 meetings. They are at home after a short break and feel good about getting healthier from the break. My money is on the Cats and am expecting them to be able to score at will. Predicting 8 goals in this one with a 6-2 final.

    As far as injuries are concerned Patrik Laine practiced in full on Friday. The Panthers will be without big defenseman Niko Mikkola and this is why I am factoring in 2 goals for the Habs.

    The Jets are hosting the Canadiens for Hockey Night in Canada. The Habs have won their last 3 meetings against the Jets and have won 8 out of the last 11. Sam Montembeault and Hellebuyck will start the game. Montreal has the advantage mentally as they swept the Jets last year and going out on a limb here, predicting the Habs beat the Jets tonight.

    Major Upset Prediction For Hockey Night in Canada

    Montreal players I believe will get a point tonight:

    Winnipeg players I am expecting to get a point:

    Judging by past meetings, the shot totals should be high for both teams. Don’t be afraid to add in the over on shots for the Canadiens. I am estimating the final score to be 4-2.

    Safe to say, I believe the NHL Canucks will not be able to stop Florida’s offense. Here is my sports betting choices for points this game:
